 Guitar classes are now offered for free to any student starting Monday, February 1 from 3:30-4:30 pm. All you need is a guitar, a ride home at 4:30 sharp, a desire to learn, and a willingness to practice. Please see Mr. Rogers to sign-up. |

Beta Club Combines 100th Day Celebration with Hati Relief Project |

 At Johnakin Middle School, students participated in the Haiti Relief while they celebrated the 100th day of school. They enjoyed many fun activities during lunch. Games included the egg toss, jump rope, basketball throw, dizzy lizzy, and more. Each activity cost 1 canned good. In just one day, Johnakin collected 689 canned goods to help support Haiti. JMS students had a wonderful time supporting such a worthy cause.. Winners were:

The over-All 100th Day Winners were Luke Capps, 6th Grade, Rose Dellinger, 7th Grade, and Lavel Wilkerson, 8th Grade. Each was treated to a Japanese lunch brought in Friday. Congratulations to all who participated. Everyone involved realizes how fortunate we are and how we can help those in desperate need. Way to go, JMS Fox Cubs! |

The Johnakin Middle School Academic Challenge team began its season Thursday, January 21 by defeating Blenheim Elementary/Middle School by a score of 46 - 16. Eighth grader and team captain Adaya Sturkey was the team's leading scorer in the toss up (buzzer) rounds with 9 points. Eighth grader Chaz Young added 4 points, eighth grader Dustin Brothers contributed 2 points, and eighth grader Tamara Wnite added 1 point. Seventh graders Zack Coleman added 4 points and Alex Honaker added 3 points. The team scored 23 points in the conference rounds. The team defeated Latta Thursday, January 28th with a score of 39 - 17. Team members include: 8th grade: Adaya Sturkey (captain), Chaz Young, Marcedes Smith, Matt Pridgen, Sarah Dellinger, Tamara White, Dustin Brothers; 7th grade: Zack Coleman, Kerri Vyge, Alex Honaker; 6th grade: Brandon SandersThanks to Mr. Coffeen, Mrs. Dorman, and Mr. Sellars for judging. Jennifer Causey and the next match will be in Lake View Thursday, February 4th at 4:30. |
